This role is for 3 days per week, choose to work from home or from our St.Kilda studios.
African Drumming is Australia's leading West African Music specialist - we share our passion by leading hundreds of annual workshops, offering retreats in Ghana, Bali, Australia and NZ, and making our instruments in our St Kilda studio using traditional drum crafting methods.
We also manage our sister company Bashiri, importing art and handmade baskets from Ghana. The role will mostly involve African Drumming (for both our Australian and NZ websites), with occasional media projects for Bashiri.
We are a busy, dynamic, and friendly team. As a small crew handling a broad scope of work, you’ll need to be adaptive while working on many different types of tasks, which keeps things interesting. Your role will include the following;
Social media strategy
We have clear guides for both SM Strategy and style, to help you in the role.
- Creating, curating, and scheduling engaging and original content (including videos) across social media (especially FB, instagram, Youtube and Linkedin). You'll need to come up with new ideas, ensure a variety of topics and Media forms in your posts & stories, and be able to drive traffic, engagements and conversions.
- Creating and scheduling our mailchimp email campaigns, including A/B testing.
- Creating blog posts for our website, google my business, and other platforms (with the use of AI), while implementing best SEO practices for these posts.
- Occasionally monitoring comments and queries across our SM channels (usually a task for other team members, who might need help at times).
- Designing content using Canva for google and Meta ad campaigns, as well as for other marketing channels.
- Editing promotional videos, with the option to shoot videos as well (depending on your location)
- Organising and styling photoshoots (depending on your location).
- Producing reports of social media engagement, reach, and conversions, and providing recommendations.
Skills required:
- A minimum of 1 year experience in social media coordination, content creation, and copywriting.
- Must have experience and examples of creating mailchimp emails.
- Must have excellent attention to detail
- Must have perfect English, both written and verbal.
- A great sense of style and design

This role is 3 days per week, working remotely, though an option to work from our lovely St.Kilda office is always available if you prefer. Our team would love to meet you!
You'll be working closely with our Business Manager, however being able to work independently is a key trait.
Start time: immediate, though we're flexible.
Rate is $33 per hour plus super on a part time basis (with all the associated benefits: annual leave, sick days etc).
