About the team
The Open Space Asset Management and Planning business unit is a newly formed team that are responsible for some of the City of Gold Coast's (City) most treasured lifestyle assets and spaces. The team is passionate about providing high quality open space areas that are a key driver for the City’s liveability and success. The team is made up of experts from different fields from Landscape Architecture, Coastal and Civil Engineering, Town Planning, Arboriculture and Horticulture and Asset management.
About your new role
You will lead a team responsible for the planning and tactical asset management of all built infrastructure within Parks and Open Spaces throughout the City. You will drive improvements in program and project management and governance, risk management, performance management, customer service, communications, and financial sustainability.
What you'll be responsible for
- Manage the Open Space assets capital works portfolio including the annual asset replacement program and the Local Areas Works program.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of the Community Parks service plan through the delivery of operational maintenance of parks infrastructure and site improvements portfolio.
- Implement and drive effective business processes through asset management, financial management, business models, risk assessments and performance improvement.
- Provide expert advice to Councillors on Open Space matters.
- Ensure funding from revenue streams including infrastructure charges and grants are optimised and supporting governance and quality systems are established and effectively managed.
- Promote a positive working environment to achieving quality outcomes through effective leadership of organisational change.
- Coach and mentor team members in the use of project management methodologies, governance structures, processes, tools, and reporting.
- Negotiate and review service level agreements with other business units.

We're looking for people who have:
- A passion for parks and Open Spaces and want to make a real contribution to the liveability of the Gold Coast.
- Professional experience in infrastructure asset management and project management.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with particular emphasis in the areas of consultation, negotiation, influencing, conflict resolution and assertiveness in order to resolve organisational issues and meet changing organisational needs relevant to the work area and department.
- A demonstrated commitment to safety from both a leadership and personal perspective.
- Proven supervisory/management experience and strong leadership skills gained within a multi-disciplinary function including the ability to develop and motivate staff, provide expert advice, establish and monitor outcomes and establish procedures.
- Bachelor Degree of Business Management or discipline related to infrastructure asset management.
- Graduate Certificate of Leadership and Management or Equivalent Knowledge (desirable)
