Cost Accountant

Location: East Melbourne, Victoria
Position:Cost Accountant
Overview:  The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and analyzing cost data to support effective decision-making and financial planning within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze cost reports, budgets, and forecasts.
• Conduct variance analysis to identify and explain discrepancies between actual costs and budgeted/forecasted costs.
• Collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial data.
• Monitor and review cost allocations, expenditures, and inventory valuation.
• Assist in the development and implementation of cost accounting policies and procedures.
• Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring all cost accounting entries are accurate and timely.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business strategies and operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting or a related role.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
