Our client, an Oil and Gas Operator, based in Perth, is seeking an experienced Cost Controller to join their team.
The successful candidate will have exceptional communication skills and the ability to establish a good working relationship with both external and internal clients and have the drive to follow all issues through to a satisfactory conclusion.
The main responsibilities of this role include:
- Preparing and monitoring budgets, forecasts, and monthly expenditure variances.
- Conducting monthly cost reporting with stakeholders and maintain cost control using in-house software.
- Raising and monitoring purchase requisitions, call-offs, service entries, and goods receipt notes.
- Ensuring cost control aligns with the work breakdown structure and monitor field cost estimates against contract terms.
- Providing cost control expertise, supporting other departments, and assisting with audits and month-end accruals.
Key Interactions:
- Reporting to the Cost Control Coordinator and collaborating with Operations, Finance, Procurement, and Contract Administration for budget preparation, cost control, and contract management.
- Interfacing with JV partners and auditors for budget reporting and audits, ensuring compliance and resolving disputes.
- Engaging with operations contractors regularly to ensure adherence to finance policies.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 5-7 years of cost control experience in the resource sectors, preferably in the oil & gas industry.
- Familiarity with key facets of oil & gas projects and operational activities, including AFE's, budgeting, cost estimating, and project controls.
- Detailed working knowledge of SAP.
- Relevant degree or experience in cost engineering, accounting, or a similar qualification; professional qualifications are an added advantage.
To be successful in this role you will have excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail. Proven cost engineering skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. You will also possess exceptional collaboration skills and be able to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
