About the role
To provide accurate, insightful, and timely analysis of sustainment projects and business unit financial performance.
Key objectives & responsibilities include:
- Analyse program / project cost performance
- Identify and communicate drivers of cost performance.
- Identify risks and opportunities.
- Assist in preparation of the customer pre-billing activities.
- Work with cost account leads to monitor actual vs budget and forecast variances.
- Identify and highlight key issues to management.
- Maintain and enhance program / project revenues, costs, and profitability.
- Perform scenario analysis to predict the outcome of uncertain decisions and risks.
- Perform analysis to verify savings from opportunities identified.
- Estimate costs for the delivery of projects / programs.
- Assist cost account leads in budget preparation.
- Benchmark costs against industry benchmarks and Austal historical data.
- Review weekly/monthly actual vs budget and forecast reports.
- Liaise directly with project manager and / or project analyst to explain variances and assist with forecasting.
- Ensure compliance to group policies and finance reporting standards.
- Provide analytical support to the Program / Project Manager as requested to investigate risks and opportunities.
- Support program / project decisions with logical analysis of business options.
Required Skills / Experience / Attributes:
- Hold a Construction safety induction (white card)
- Finance, Accounting, or other Business Degree
- CA / CPA or CIMA experience.
- Minimum of 2 8 years’ experience in a variety of Finance functions with a focus on management accounting, financial modelling, and business analysis to drive financial performance.
- Highly PC literate – Excel & Access
- Strong business acumen (e.g., budget management, earned value, contracts)
- Effective communication skills - written and spoken.
- Ability to lead and act as part of a team.
