About the RoleThis position is integral to the MERIT team as you will provide counselling and case management to clients involved with the local courts (Newcastle, Maitland, Toronto, Cessnock and Raymond Terrace) and work with them to positively proceed through the program. What does this look like? It looks like scheduling weekly appointments, writing reports on clients progress, and attending local courts.
The successful applicant will be supported by their colleagues within the MERIT Team, by the Service Manager, Allied Health Lead and the identified supervisor – which will be determined once successful candidate is chosen.
Where you'll be working
The successful applicant will join the MERIT Team based at Newcastle Community Health, 670 Hunter Street Newcastle. You will work in a supportive environment alongside other multidiscipline professionals made up of Nurses, Psychologists, Social Workers and Administration staff to counsel and case manage clients who have identified as having a drug and/or alcohol dependency, and are involved with the criminal justice system.

You will also have the ability to work in a team environment, have outstanding verbal and non-verbal communication skills, and have a strong understanding of the Code of Ethics – remaining professional at all times.
