About the role:

This a Team Leader role within the Contact Centre at the Crime Stoppers Unit. The Team Leader is responsible for managing and leading a team of VPS2 call takers.

Crime Stoppers Operatives work in the Crime Stoppers Contact Centre within the State Intelligence Division, Intelligence & Covert Support Command of Victoria Police. You will be responsible for overseeing the receiving information from the public via telephone or on-line reports then converting this information into information reports which are then disseminated to relevant areas for investigation. 

The Crime Stoppers Contact Centre operates every day of the year, including public holidays, between 7 am and 11 pm.   Crime StoppersTeam Leaders are required to work shift work including weekends, The Crime Stoppers Program provides the community an opportunity to report information about crime in a confidential manner.

Your duties will include:

  • Overseeing, supervising, and undertaking administration and supervisory functions, and be accountable for providing motivation, performance feedback and coordination of training activities to team members.
  • Ensuring processes and procedures are compliant with relevant regulations, policies and procedures and provide recommendations for remedial action when required.
  • Providing sound advice and support to senior management and Region/Department/Command staff on a range of administrative related issues.
  • Oversee the processing of crime and traffic related information received through phone calls, on-line reports, and written correspondence into information reports
  • Conduct data checks, update database records and compile statistics
  • Communicate with a broad range of internal & external stakeholders

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing a team through activities such as individual / team performance and development.
  • Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written, including an aptitude for personal accuracy and quality outcomes.
  • A good knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and practices to enable the provision of authoritative and accurate advice.
  • Proven interpersonal skills, dealing effectively with a wide range of personnel within a large and diverse organisation focusing on continual improvement.
  • A proven record of ethical behaviour and a demonstrated commitment to the Victoria Police Code of Ethics and Conduct, Financial Code of Practice, and the Organisational Values.

 Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • This position requires shift work as indicated in the Position Description (as attached to the advertisement).
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
