Job description

DAIWS operates 24/7 women’s shelters for crisis accommodation and transitional units for longer term accommodation, and outreach and counselling services for clients to support them in living strong empowered lives. The role of CIOS Case Worker , Under general direction of the Outreach Coordinator  , undertake a range of activities which require the application of acquired skills and knowledge appropriate to ensuring the continuity of care and support of women who have exited safe houses , with a particular focus on working within the Family Safety Framework and Supportlink referrals or with Women at High Risk of harm or death. Victim Safety will be maximised with individual safety plans developed for victims and their children, as well as providing increased pathways to other services. Engage and work collaboratively with community , town camps, and other relevant services providers to improve response to Domestic and Family Violence. This role requires you to work with female victims and their children who have experienced violence in the home, to minimise the risk of further family violence. Confidently conduct domestic and family violence risk assessments (Common Risk Assessment Tool) with each family member referred into the program. Maintain substantial valid case notes using Specialist Homelessness Information Platform (SHIP).The program includes the provision of early intervention strategies aiming to prevent family violence, improve child protection by providing holistic , flexible and culturally appropriate case management to Aboriginal Domestic Violence victim survivors and their children to improve and stabilize their safety, housing and general wellbeing to mitigate the impact of past trauma and build strong women, as well as providing a strong case management service.

You will have the ability to articulate the impact domestic and family violence issues have on Aboriginal and Torres Strait families and the community; along with effective ways to support, maintain and protect vulnerable women and children. You will  deliver services in a culturally safe manner, using client-centred and trauma informed practice.

You will be available and willing to work Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 4.36pm. You will have contemporary experience in providing effective case management to women and children in domestic, family, community and sexual violence or other crisis situations, including mandatory reporting in the Northern Territory; as well as Certificate IV in Community Services or similar, a NT driver's licence, Ochre card,  and have or be willing to gain a First Aid certificate.  You will be prepared to undergo adhoc drug and alcohol testing and fitness for duty assessments (physical and psychological) prior to and during employment.
