The NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) supports the development of profitable primary industries that create a more prosperous NSW and contributes to a better environment through the sustainable use of natural resources.
Within NSW DPI, the Biosecurity & Food Safety Division is responsible for effective management and risk minimisation of biosecurity threats to NSW as well as the through-chain regulation of food safety. It delivers a risk based approach to policy and compliance, and provides regional engagement and coordination in response to emergency incidents and natural disasters impacting primary industries and the food sector
About the role
The Customer Service Officer is part of a small contact centre team and responsible for providing Customer Service through the NSW Food Authority and NSW DPI Biosecurity helplines to the public, industry and government by phone and online.
What will your day involve?
- Providing high quality and timely biosecurity and food safety information and advice to the public, industry and other agencies, verbally and in writing.
- Prioritising customer enquiries, reports and complaints and creating accurate records in the customer relationship management system, tasking to other workgroups when required.
- Keeping up to date with biosecurity and food safety related matters and sharing knowledge with the rest of the team.
- Assisting with reporting and administrative tasks including some data entry.
- Complying with department policies and procedures.
Our ideal candidate
To be successful in this role, you will need excellent verbal and written communication skills, be a team player, and able to demonstrate experience providing excellent Customer Service in a complex regulatory environment.
You will be able to manage competing priorities using multiple systems, with a strong attention to detail.
On the job training will require attendance at the Newington office full-time. After this, a combination of working in the office and from home is available.
