The Cyber Risk Services Branch is responsible for the monitoring, identification and response to cyber threats to the Department's ICT Environment. The Communication and Engagement Section within Cyber Risk Services Branch provides communication and awareness, and Education and Training products and campaigns for the Department.
These services are a critical function to prevent cyber security incidents and enable Home Affairs employees to make informed decisions about their behaviour in this interconnected cyber environment. The section also provides holistic cyber security reporting in order to support evidence based and intelligence informed decision making at strategic, operational and tactical levels.

The key duties of the position include:Our ideal candidate
The Assistant Director Cyber Education and Training leads the Education and Training team in the development and production of educational products and campaigns. At times these campaigns are generated to support achievement of our Cyber Risk Branch's objectives, and at other times they will be generated to drive behavioural change and enable informed decision making relating to security issues at large, or in support of whole of government initiatives.
The Assistant Director Cyber Education and Training will work closely with stakeholders to identify learning objectives and desired behaviour change, then lead a team to develop and deliver products and presentations to support achievement of this.
This position has direct supervision responsibility and is based in Canberra, ACT.
We are looking for candidates with:
- Proficiency in extracting information, defining objectives and recommending solutions that deliver value to stakeholders and enable change.
- The ability to work with limited supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound communication and stakeholder relationship skills.
- Strong and adaptive critical thinking skills.
- The ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders to elicit requirements and design education campaigns in order to raise cyber security awareness and drive behavioural change.
- The ability to conceptualise, analyse and evaluate information, including information and data from technical reports, to support the continual review and development of education products and campaigns.
Duties and responsibilities
- Manage and oversee staff within the Education and Training team, including all associated HR management within delegations.
- Manage the delivery and quality assurance of Education and Training products to the Department and other Governmenet Agencies.
- Produce and facilitate the production of collaborative Education and Training products which directly influence behaviour change through targeted and nuanced messaging.
- Approve and prioritise requests for Education and Training campaigns and products from various stakeholders in consultation with the Director, Cyber Engagement and Delivery.
- Provide representation at key stakeholder engagement activities.
- Develop strategies, frameworks and procedures to support the production of evidence based and intelligence informed Education and Training campaigns and products.
- Manage dissemination of Education and Training through a range of platforms and to a range of audiences.
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance and an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
