The Role:
Our client is seeking a Data and Analytics Lead for initial 6 months contract. The role provides an important function in supporting the business to optimise Data and reporting platforms and storage solutions. The role involves effective collaboration with the business to understand Analytics and data requirements. Strong ability to lead, influence, upskill, and develop solutions that meet enterprise needs is important. This role may lead a team of direct/indirect reports to drive outcomes for the Data and Analytics team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance the alignment and integration of data management, data warehousing, and storage design solutions, including big data solutions, to achieve synergy, consistency, and enterprise-level value optimization.
- Identify and advise on strategic data requirements throughout the organization, designing and implementing models utilizing best practices in data science and Analytics to optimize data utilization and enable strategic decision support.
- Implement established governance, standards, processes, and frameworks for enterprise-level data capture and storage, fostering organizational consistency and enhancing data security.
- Collaborate with data analysts and scientists across the organization to streamline and establish consistent reporting and governance approaches, including the creation of dashboards for a unified source of truth.
- Ensure alignment of data requirements with enterprise architecture as led by the Strategy and Architecture function.
- Assist in the development of enterprise Data and Analytics roadmaps.
- Implement and advocate for the use of reporting dashboards with an enterprise-wide perspective to enhance consistency and quality of organizational reporting, leveraging the latest tools and data science and Analytics capabilities.
- Evaluate, align, and map data-related alternatives to deliver desired business outcomes, in line with agreed-upon technology and organizational strategies and roadmap.
- Develop and execute plans for reducing data complexity effectively.
- Implement established governance frameworks to support data security and effective risk mitigation.
- Assess and maintain internal and external data design blueprints to effectively manage available data.
- Document and maintain current-state data flows across business processes and technology systems.
- Collaborate with other areas of the ICT function to devise data solutions and models tailored to the organization's current and future needs.
- Maintain a strong focus on data analytics and continuous improvement, particularly its impact on people, processes, and the organization.
- Support business strategy development processes and contribute key insights to the annual budget planning cycle.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with employees, managers, executives, and senior stakeholders to drive change and enhance understanding of analytics optimization.
- Engage and consult with managers and executives on governance requirements.
- Foster robust relationships with third-party vendors and providers to spearhead the development of optimized solutions and enhancements.
- Oversee and manage the Data Platform throughout the development to operations lifecycle.
- Lead the team in managing and maintaining production workloads, optimizing performance, and adhering to Service Level Agreements.
Skill Requirement:
- Business Engagement: Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with business stakeholders.
- Technical Proficiency: Solid technical background in data warehouse design, data architecture, data modelling, and corporate business intelligence tools.
- Cloud Technology: Proven expertise in working with cloud data & analytics technologies.
- Microsoft Tools: Experience with SQL, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure ML, Power BI, and Power Apps.
- Standards and Guidelines: Ability to develop and maintain a set of standards and guidelines that guide all platform development activities.
- Continuous Improvement: Capacity to identify opportunities to drive continuous improvement of information usage across the business.
- Data Warehousing and Reporting: Proven experience with complex Data Warehousing and reporting applications. Experience in the energy industry is preferred.
- Operational Roles: Extensive expertise in Data and Analytics operational roles and demonstrated experience running production operations in Data platforms.
- Cost Optimisation: Experience in understanding Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) with cloud-enabled data platforms and practices to enable cost optimisation.
- Leadership: Passion for building and leading high-performance teams.
- Governance: Demonstrated ability to implement data governance practices in adherence to the defined framework and standards.
- Strategic Planning: Can provide assistance in the 3-5 year data roadmap.
- Advanced Analytics: Any experience with ML and OpenAI will be considered an advantage.
- Agile Environment: Proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced Agile environment.
