POSITION SUMMARY
As a member of a small team, you will work closely with other team members to achieve AFIA’s strategy and business plan, taking a hands-on approach, with a proactive and future-focused mindset, and always ensuring our work demonstrates relevance and influence for our members. One of our strategic priorities is championing digital innovation and data to advance the position of Australia as a world-class financial ecosystem.
The Data Insights & Reporting Analyst reports to the Executive Director, Member Engagement, but works day to day with other members of the AFIA team, particularly the Associate Director, Economics and Data on our data reports and the policy team to ensure our advocacy activities promote evidence-based decisions and reforms.
The role is responsible for:
- analysis of industry data sets to build industry data reports which provide insight to industry participants and support AFIA’s advocacy and stakeholder engagement activities
- delivering compliance monitoring reports by working with the Director, Industry Standards and Code of Practice members, to provide relevant data and insights to the respective Code Compliance Committee members
- managing relationships with data partners, members and others to support data collection and preparation of industry data reports
- identify opportunities for industry market research reports and work with market research partners to design and deliver these reports
- implement AFIA’s data strategy, including executing the data roadmap in alignment with business objectives and engaging with data partners, members and others on continuous improvement in data and reporting
- regularly improving analytics, reporting and data visualisation tools.

EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES:
- Academic and/or professional experience in data analytics.
- Academic and/or professional experience with Python and SQL.
- Degree relevant to financial services and/or data science highly desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship skills.
- Ability to produce informative data visualisations and willingness to learn new techniques and tools.
- Proven ability to manage projects, multi-task and adjust work priorities and modes of work to get high quality results.
- Proactive and alert to activities taking place within the finance industry, including political context, economic and market developments, and community expectations.
