We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Manager to join our team based in Cairns on a full-time fixed term opportunity. You will be responsible for overseeing our data strategy, ensuring the accuracy and security of data, and providing insights to support strategic decision-making. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a deep understanding of data management practices and technologies.
What will you bring to the role:
- A broad knowledge of data management, access and movement technologies, techniques and standards.
- Experience with Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property and principles of Indigenous data sovereignty.
- An enthusiasm and passion to support the growth of Indigenous capacity through training and mentoring programs.
- Significant organisation and problem-solving skills, with ability to prioritise and meet competing deadlines, and established record of exercising judgement and initiative.
About the ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous and Environmental Histories and Futures
The new ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous and Environmental Histories and Futures (CIEHF), administered by James Cook University will set new standards for research and management on Country across Australia. Driven by respectful, authentic co-design, and drawing from diverse cultural, environmental, and historical records, the Centre will work to enhance Land and Sea Country management, reframed by Indigenous knowledges and science. The Centre expects to make a legacy contribution by developing complementary Indigenous and Western knowledge frameworks for modelling environmental, cultural, and historical change in Australia over the last millennium and into the near future.
