The Data Manager, Planetary Health is an exciting new role that will coordinate the development and ongoing management of a carbon dashboard for Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) to monitor and track progress towards net zero emissions.

Northern Sydney Local Health District is a place where we aim to improve the health of our local population and the planet. You’ll be an important part of a recently established and high achieving Planetary Health team within the Population Health Promotion Unit, responsible for leading the implementation of the NSLHD Planetary Health Framework 2024-2027 (to be published in March 2024).
What you'll be doing
Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) has recently calculated its baseline carbon footprint and is committed to reducing emissions to reach net zero by 2035 for the emissions we control directly, with a 70-80% reduction by 2030.
The Data Manager, Planetary Health is responsible for coordinating the ongoing collection and analysis of Planetary Health data and information, including supporting the development and maintenance of a carbon emissions dashboard, to monitor and track progress of NSLHD’s pathway to net zero.
The role will build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to collect and synthesise a range of data across scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions sources and evaluate the environmental, health, and financial impact of sustainability projects.
Working within a small Planetary Health team with a diversity of skills, the successful candidate will use their understanding of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol and carbon accounting to support research and develop new ways to calculate and track NSLHD’s carbon footprint and emissions reduction over time.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Please outline any relevant qualifications and appropriate experience you have in data analytics or business intelligence, sustainability, research and evaluation, project management, or a related discipline, and demonstrate your experience in the collection and analysis of data using analytics tools such as Power BI. Experience developing automated technical solutions will be highly regarded.
- Please provide an example which demonstrates your experience in stakeholder engagement and your ability to problem solve and work as a part of a team to deliver organisational strategic objectives.
- Pease provide an example of when you have demonstrated excellent communication skills and ability to present evidence and technical information clearly and systematically in the form of reports, research papers, briefs, and/or presentations.
