Your new opportunityThis role within the Strategic Information Branch provides an opportunity to work with cutting edge analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
Working alongside a dynamic team of experts dedicated to solving complex challenges, you will contribute to internal and whole-of-government policies, programs and issues. A whole of lifecycle approach means you will support the implementation of key strategic information, analytics and technology initiatives.
In this role, you will:Extract, analyse, interpret and present complex data sets for distribution to internal and external clients responding to on-demand requests and annual reporting requirements.Develop and maintain business intelligence and data visualisation solutions presenting economic and fiscal data and statistics in an accessible and user-friendly manner for internal and external clients.Develop, maintain and document data collection management processes according with departmental protocols.Provide technical assistance and expert advice to staff on data-related procurement, projects and appropriate use, interpretation and presentation of data.Maintain knowledge of best practice data management techniques ensuring data presentation and sharing meets customer needs.Manage external stakeholder expectations, gain broader knowledge of user needs/desires and identify data sharing opportunities.Contribute written analyses and visuals to reports, research papers, Ministerial, briefing papers and other information in the context of fostering evidence-basedpolicy development.Contribute to the developing, describing and communicating new and innovative methods for data management at Queensland Treasury.
What experience you will bring:- managing the collection, extraction, analysis, interpretation and reporting of complex data sets to a high standard within tight timelines- proficiency using SQL, Power BI or other data analytics and visualisation software- working with Microsoft Azure and AWS cloud software environments, particularly platforms, tools and methods related to data science, data analytics, data visualisation and information management- proficiency in one or more programming and/or data manipulation languages commonly used in data science- sound knowledge (or the ability to acquire) of Treasury functions and processes and the fiscal, economic and statistical information and models supporting them.- high-level oral and written communication skills reflecting understanding audience capacity- working flexibly across multiple projects and activities and managing competing priorities
There are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, however, relevant qualifications in data science, computer science, information systems, information technology or a related field are highly regarded.
