Do you want to take your career to the next level? As an APS 6 Database Site Administrator Team Leader, working in the Technical Data Unit, Directorate of Engineering, Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance Group (GWEO) in the Department of Defence, you will be working with some of the most exciting and complex guided weapons and explosive ordnance products used by the Australian Defence Force.
You will manage engineering management systems within the Data Engineering Management and Information Team, where you will spend your days:
- Investigating, analysing and reporting on engineering concepts and risks;
- Planning, designing and delivering critical engineering activities and providing solutions;
- Providing advice to stakeholders;
- Supervision of a Data Management Team;
- Ensuring effective prioritisation and coordination of workloads;
- Provide management and secretariat support to the Deputy Director Technical Data;
- Oversight of the administration, maintenance and validation of compliant technical data engineering systems;
- Mentoring junior members;
- Exercise sound initiative and judgment in applying appropriate practices and procedures;
- Prepare or provide input to relevant briefs and reports;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are an integral aspect of this role.
- You must be able to network/communicate at all levels including engaging with outside organisations to achieve objectives.
There may be some domestic business travel associated with this position.
Note: This position will be required to access US export controlled materiel and therefore applicants will be requested to disclose any dual citizenship with another country during the recruitment process. Dual citizens may be subject to further assessment and appointment to this position will be conditional upon approval to access US controlled export material in accordance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

The Directorate of Engineering is an integral part of Delivery Systems, which is part of the new Guided Weapons & Explosive Ordnance Group.
Our team is made up of various disciplines (including engineering, project management, commercial, logistics, and corporate enabling services). We are located in Canberra, Penrith, Amberley, Melbourne and Stirling and our focus is to acquire and sustain guided weapons and munitions for the Australian Defence Force.

Our Ideal Candidate
The right person for this role will be an individual who is committed to and experienced in Database Site administration, and is able to demonstrate the adaptability and flexibility required to respond to needs of stakeholders.
Experience in Microsoft Access, Excel and SQL server databases in a Microsoft windows network environment.
You will use your initiative to make informed decisions and solve complex problems under limited direction.
