Delivery Director - M1 Pacific Motorway extension to RaymondTerrace Project
Organisation/Entity: Transport For NSW
Job category: Governance
Newcastle, NSW, AU, 2302
Job reference number: 92981
Employment type: Fixed Term Full-Time
Salary range: An attractive remuneration package
You’re a leader who takes ownership and actively creates positive change.
You have the opportunity to deliver a landmark infrastructure project spanning Newcastle and Port Stephens.
In this role, you’ll:
Join our Regional Project Delivery branch within the Infrastructure and Place division to work closely with the Project Director and in partnership with our delivery contractors. In this role you will manage competing pressures between project scope, performance, cost, program, quality and risk, stakeholder expectations, and longer-term community needs.
The M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace project addresses a key 'missing link' between Sydney and Brisbane. The existing M1 Motorway, New England Highway and Pacific Highway carry some of the highest traffic volumes across the Hunter. This will bypass the congestion and merge points along this corridor and is predicted to reduce traffic volumes across the existing network. The project will transform the way people move to and from the Hunter, improving travel times for commuters from Sydney to Brisbane and removing up to 25,000 vehicles a day from key congestion.
This $2.1bn Australian and NSW government funded project includes 15kms of dual carriageway and provides motorway access from four new interchanges at Black Hill, Tarro, Tomago and Raymond Terrace. The project also includes a 2.6km viaduct over the Hunter River and floodplain, the Main North Rail Line, and the New England Highway.
Based in Newcastle, you will be responsible for the resolution of complex project issues, leading high-level consultations and negotiations with delivery contractors, internal Transport for NSW branches and various Government agencies. The role guides and drives project delivery across multiple project locations, some large and complex and often operating continuously. Critical to this role is adherence to best practice project, contract, and asset management standards, in compliance with planning approvals, on a commercially sound basis and to the satisfaction of the key stakeholders and the community.
As we journey into the future and are looking to build a diverse workforce, flexible work environment where differences are valued will be a key attribute to the success of the project. This role offers the option to consider a combination of working from home and working from Newcastle.
This is a full-time fixed term until March 2028, Transport Senior Service TSSE1A level role offering an attractive remuneration package. Please note a Project Director TSSE1B level role is also being advertised reference 92979.
