Gentle Dental Hervey Bay is a locally owned and operated family general dental practice. We provide a relaxed friendly environment for patients to receive treatment for all of their dental needs. We are locals of Hervey Bay, so we understand the region for all of its benefits and challenges and thus provide a service that locals can relate to.
We are in search of an additional Dental Receptionist to join and support our growing team and expanding clinic into 2024. The available position will be part time with opportunity to move into full time for the right candidate.

Tasks & responsibilities
Role Specific Tasks of Dental Receptionist/Assistant include:
- Meet and greet patients, customers, suppliers and practice staff
- Manage incoming phone calls for the practice
- Schedule patient appointments and perform follow-up confirmation communication
- Communicate bookings and patient needs with Dental staff
- Prepare documented treatment plans for patients
- Process payments, health insurance rebates and other claims
- Maintain patient records
- Prepare correspondence as directed including patient follow up welfare contact
- Provide the practice with administrative assistance, including the maintenance and re-stock of dental and office supplies
- Practicing and adhering to immaculate OH&S as well as infection control practice
- General smooth running of the clinic and ability to work autonomously
Assistant/Chair Side Position:
- Provide assistance to the dental operator, including dentists, hygienists and therapists throughout the course of procedures including clearing the patient's mouth of saliva or dental materials used during the treatment by operating suction or other appropriate equipment
- Prepare the treatment room as directed by the dental operator and ensure correct instruments and materials are available
- Sets up and prepares clinic for the day and shuts down clinic as directed
- Clean and sterilize the instruments prior to and after treatment including beginning of day validation of sterilizers
- Clean the surgery and treatment room in accordance with the practice’s policies and procedures, including decontamination procedures for infection control
