Job description

Advertised Vacancy Number: IPS/DP886712

This is a nine (9) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 2, 2024 with possible extension (12 months).

Arbor Grove Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated, passionate, and enthusiastic Deputy Principal to join our professional and dedicated team.

The successful applicant should be a strong leader, highly motivated, and innovative, with strengths in the development of the whole school curriculum and student engagement, as well as a high level of organisational skills to work with our team to incorporate strategic intent into operational plans, which maximize student engagement, motivation, and achievement.

The successful applicant should have strong interpersonal and communication skills. You should ideally be highly motivated, energetic, and hardworking, as well as proactive in the support of students and staff and, ideally, have experience in engaging and motivating staff in new and innovative approaches. Previous experience and understanding of best practice in the Early Years would be desirable.

As Deputy Principal, you will work closely with the Principal and members of the executive team to provide educational leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school vision and facilitating workforce effectiveness. You will have a key leadership role in teaching and learning and will be responsible for delivering strategies and targets outlined in the focus areas within the school’s Business Plan. This will include further development and monitoring of our data-informed teaching practices initiative and instructional leadership program.

Arbor Grove PS’ dedicated and highly qualified staff are focussed on achieving strong social, emotional and academic outcomes for our students. We offer a caring and nurturing learning environment. Students at our school are respectful, resilient, and self-disciplined - they value learning. Our teachers are avid lifelong learners with high expectations - in terms of both students’ learning and their behaviour. Their joy for teaching is infectious. Students will enjoy coming to school each and every day. We are committed to evidence-based quality teaching and learning programs that enable students to develop the skills to become an independent learner.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings.
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes.
