Development & Environment Compliance Officer

Permanent

Salary $86,176 to $110,996 per annum plus superannuation. (Salary package will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications.) Operational Motor Vehicle under lease back arrangements for private use.

We are looking for our next passionate Development and Environment Compliance Officer to join the Regulation and Enforcement team in this rewarding and fast paced position!

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring, assessing, and ensuring compliance with environmental and development regulations and standards applicable to our jurisdiction. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining environmental quality and safeguarding our community's health and natural surroundings.

Equally, you will demonstrate technical aptitude and personal resilience. This role requires the successful applicants to work flexible hours including being on-call.

What you will be doing:

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to assess development and environmental compliance of businesses, industries, and public facilities.
  • Investigate complaints related to Development and Environmental issues and take appropriate enforcement actions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other departments, agencies, and stakeholders to promote environmental awareness and compliance initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and contribute to the development of environmental policies and programs.

As an integral member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring development projects in the local government area comply with relevant legislation, policy and operating procedures.

Working closely with key stakeholders, you will promptly initiate enforcement action to deliver quality outcomes with a high level of customer service.

About you:

  • You are passionate about the protection of the environment.
  • You have exceptional negotiation, investigation and consultation skills
  • You have an excellent knowledge of the Protection of the Environment operations Act 1997,the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and/or the Building Code of Australia.
