Your New Role
We are seeking an experienced Compliance Officer passionate about working with the community to get positive outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and diverse organisation, working within our dedicated Development Services team.
Reporting to the Development Services Manager, you will work to deliver high quality compliance regulation of local development activities across the shire to ensure suitable, safety, legal and environmental requirements are met.
What you will be doing
- Investigating and inspecting reports and observations of unapproved and non-compliant development.
- Conducting follow up actions regarding identified breaches, and ensure appropriate enforcement action is taken, including initiating legal action where necessary.
- Preparing concise reports, briefing notes and other correspondence as required.
- Ensuring all correspondence and work orders are processed in accordance with Council performance targets.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess tertiary qualifications in the planning, law, environmental or investigations field, and/or demonstrated work experience relevant to the role. You will also possess a demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory requirements; and experience in the appropriate collection and preparation of evidence for enforcement, legal proceedings and court attendance.
You will possess highly developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills; ability to work autonomously and proactively; and a demonstrated ‘can do’ attitude. Importantly, you will also share our values of:
