- Ongoing Public Service Senior Executive Band 1 role with a remuneration range of $231,159 - $255,262 per annum
- Located in Parramatta, however flexible working locations are supported, including regional areas, at your nearest Department of Education office, with travel to Sydney as needed.

About the role
The Director, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Early Childhood Education and Care is a key role responsible for Influencing and shaping programs within the Department to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children get the best start in life through Early Childhood Education and development.

About you
You are a strategic and influential leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and prides themselves on their proven ability to connect with and have a deep understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, allowing you to translate community consultation into policy and programs.
You will bring your big picture thinking, strong negotiating skills and holistic outlook to the role, ensuring you play a vital role in developing a culture that enables an equitable, inclusive and outstanding early learning system for all children and families.
You will be passionate about and can build and maintain effective working relationships within and across our Department, and with external stakeholders to support collaboration and partnerships.
To be successful in this role, you will have
- Demonstrated extensive experience at a senior level in a large complex organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with and understand issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Aboriginal identified role: Aboriginality is an essential requirement and typically all or the majority of the work will involve the development and /or delivery of policy, programs and services which impact Aboriginal people and/or involve liaising directly with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as education, business, management, social sciences or communications, and/or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Hold a valid clearance to work with children (Working with Children Check).
- Demonstrated capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
