The Cabinet Legislation and Liaison Office in the Department of Justice and Attorney-General provides the highest quality support to the offices of the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence and the Director-General, DJAG in regard to the administrative processes associated with Cabinet.
Your key responsibilities:
- Oversee the management of the discharge of the Attorney-General's Cabinet business and coordinate the flow of information between the Attorney-General and the department on Cabinet and Cabinet Committee matters for the whole portfolio.
- Brief senior departmental officers, the offices of the Director-General and Attorney-General's on emergent and critical Cabinet issues so that they aware of timely matters requiring immediate attention.
- Liaise with senior officers on the preparation of Cabinet briefs, Cabinet and Cabinet committee submissions, and other related executive government activities, to ensure that they meet corporate and ministerial requirements.
- Manage a team whose purpose it is to provide a high level of Cabinet and executive support services to the Attorney-General and Director-General.
- Undertake policy analysis around Cabinet matters and prepare associated briefs, reports and coordinate whole-of-department responses to Cabinet discussion papers within the portfolio.
- Review and provide quality assurance on Cabinet briefing notes and other Cabinet documents relevant to the Attorney-General's responsibilities.
- Manage the provision of support services for the operation of Cabinet and report on the implementation of DJAG's decision implementation responsibilities.
