The role

Reporting to the Executive Director, Governance, Assurance and Information Management Branch (GAIM), the role will provide senior leadership and direction to the Asset Management Unit to support the enabling and provision of operational asset management services within Queensland Health. The team is to ensure that asset owners and responsible officers are able to manage and address their utilisation, regulatory, risk management and safety obligations on their building asset portfolios and supporting infrastructure.

The successful person

You will have demonstrated:

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, manage, implement and review policy development, large scale asset management programs, improvement initiatives and project management, including the ability to scope projects, engage and direct consultants/contractors within time and budget constraints and the ability to work effectively with clients, stakeholders and other industry partners.
  • Demonstrated high level ability to identify, examine and critically interpret complex information and provide strategic solutions relating to strategic infrastructure asset management, asset information management, real property services and ecologically sustainable development and climate change.
  • Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills at a senior executive level and the ability to provide strategic leadership and management of a multi-disciplinary team, including demonstrated effectiveness in supervisory and management practices that are in line with quality human resource management practices.

The Corporate Services Division (CSD) provides a wide range of enabling and business support services to the department. Focusing on delivering essential corporate services in partnership to enable a high performing Queensland health system, the CSD is responsible for major corporate functions including finance, human resources, legal, communications, audit, risk and assurance, governance, business enhancement and infrastructure delivery.

The Asset Management Unit works in close collaboration with the Hospital and Health Services (HHSs) and other Department of Health (DoH) business units to provide support and advice for all asset management requirements to enable them to effectively manage their buildings and supporting infrastructure over the asset life cycle to mitigate against infrastructure risks that may impact on health service delivery.
