The role
The Director, Corporate Sustainability – Sustainable Investments (SI) will work closely with, and report to, the Head of Sustainable Investment, Australia. This newly created role will be accountable for working with a range of stakeholders across the global organisation, as you drive progress and accountability for the development, delivery and execution of IFM’s Corporate Sustainability Strategy, including targets and actions. Liaising and coordinating across IFM, you'll find yourself building strong relationships with diverse people across the business as you oversee the implementation of the strategy.
A key focus of the role is to co-ordinate, lead and monitor various Corporate Sustainability projects of the firm, support regulatory compliance and related reporting, uplift the firm’s SI capabilities through learning and development initiatives, embed sustainability into policies, processes and governance, and oversee the firm’s giving and volunteering programs.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Partner with and provide strategic advice to executive teams on sustainability opportunities.
- Identify and problem solve for issues that present sustainability risk or reputational damage.
- Ensure transparent and on-going communication and reporting of strategy outcomes as well as maintaining a high level of compliance with best practice industry standards, regulations, and expectation.
- Provide internal advice to others in the SI team working on programs of work relating to sustainable investment initiatives for the portfolio such as climate change, modern slavery, inclusion, and diversity etc.
- Delivery and growth of IFM’s Giving and Volunteering programs.
- Procure annual Climate Active certification, working with external and internal stakeholders to develop the carbon emissions reduction plan; coordinate and oversee execution of that plan.
- Conduct research & external engagement around best practice Corporate Sustainability initiatives.
You bring proven experience aligning a sustainability strategy to the overarching corporate strategy within an organisation. With a passion aligning internal purpose to external execution, you thrive in an environment where collaboration and influence is critical to achieving shared outcomes. You have experience in driving and managing multiple projects &/ or initiatives in parallel, from establishment through to implementation. You bring an understanding of working with geographically dispersed stakeholders and are across emerging global E&S trends, disclosures, and regulatory changes.
In addition, you will possess:
- 7+ years relevant and related experience gained working in a professional environment such as investment, finance, government, or infrastructure corporate with a focus on sustainability.
- Ability to partner with external organisations on sustainable business projects.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a Sustainability, Business, Legal, or investment (Finance) focus. Sustainability-related professional qualifications desirable but not essential.
- Experience in Sustainable Investment and/or Corporate Sustainability, and within an asset management/financial institution will be highly regarded.
- Ability to travel domestically (mainly Melbourne/Sydney) and occasional international travel as required.
