Our Development & System Transition directorate plays a pivotal role in helping support critical frontline ICT systems through the technical management and enhancement of software applications and associated services.
The team provides software interface development, testing and release services for both internally developed solutions as well as vendor supplied solutions. Additionally, Tier 3 level operational support services are provided for internally developed interface solutions.
As the Director, you will lead a talented team of professionals in delivering services, providing strategic direction in relation to technical matters and advice & guidance to a range of senior stakeholders, peers and staff. As part of this role, you'll also collaborate with internal stakeholders to support organisational change and key QPS projects and initiatives.
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Create a culture that emphasises the importance of lateral thinking and innovation, in balance with meeting time, cost (i.e. value for money) and quality (i.e. customer satisfaction) targets.
- Manage IT support for critical frontline services for our partner agencies including system stability, support maintenance and new initiatives.
- Manage relationships across the public safety agencies leading the identification of emerging business needs and leveraging an in-depth understanding of stakeholders' business needs to create innovative IT solutions.
- Work collaboratively with the Chief Information Officer, Directors within Frontline and Digital Division and leaders across all parts of QPS and other agencies in order to create a collaborative approach to leadership and management.
- Monitor IT and broader public safety trends and implement appropriate solutions through system improvements and the creation of new systems.
- Provide high level advice to the Chief Information Officer and develop appropriate processes and plans that maximise potential benefits.
Qualification:
- A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Business Management or related discipline, and relevant post graduate qualifications will be highly regarded.
Significant experience in:
- Workload prioritisation, resource prioritisation, Human Resource management and Financial Resource management of an enterprise scale team.
- Leading an enterprise scale software development team.
