You will work in a NATA accredited laboratory and manage the Laboratory’s Quality Management system in collaboration with staff and management to ensure ongoing accreditation.
The Quality Management Officer, Calibration Laboratory is positioned within the Calibration Laboratory, Specialist Programs, Engagement Group, Road Policing Command and is located at the Police Complex at Alderley.
The Calibration Laboratory consists of 21 staff involved in the commissioning, repair, installation and calibration of all QPS breath-alcohol analysis instruments and speed and photographic detection systems used across the state. The Laboratory is accredited by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) to the requirements of Australian Standard 17025.
The core capability requirements for this role are:
• Develop, implement, maintain and review the Calibration Laboratory's Quality Management system (QMS).
• Manage internal audit program, coordinate, perform, assign, monitor and review internal audits.
• Manage and quality assure test equipment, inter-laboratory comparisons and proficiency testing.
• Develop, evaluate and review policies, procedures and records and coordinate and implement corrective and preventative actions to completion.
• Conduct and evaluate customer satisfaction survey.
• Provide advice to laboratory staff and management and on Quality Management issues.
• Coordinate and supervise the administration team to ensure the business needs of the Calibration Laboratory are met.
• Monitor and review the education and training requirements for laboratory staff.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding QMS matters and system improvements.
Role Requirements:
Technical/Operational/Educational experience - There are no mandatory requirements for this role however, experience in Quality Management roles or activities in an accredited laboratory, and application of Australian Standard 17025 - ‘General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories', along with a knowledge of NATA requirements for laboratory accreditation will be favourably considered.
