About the role:

Are you a seasoned nursing professional passionate about providing exceptional care to the elderly?

Access Aged Care is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Director of Nursing to join our dynamic team. As the Director of Nursing, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the clinical management of our residents and ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained throughout our partnering homes.

The primary purpose of the Director of Nursing is to lead clinical management ensuring successful outcomes for the co-managed patient. This management role requires someone who is organized with sound clinical skills.

The role may include regular travel and is supported by administrative staff and a multi-disciplinary team including General Practitioner and Geriatrician.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Clinical Services, the role will maintain a consistent oversight of the nursing team, supporting and allowing them to reach their KPI's.

Success in this role will be evident in the achievement of customer satisfaction, resident acquisition, staff retention, strong team leadership, and the display of essential behavioural competencies in line with the company objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight of the clinical management of residents, ensuring their well-being and safety are paramount.
  • Take charge of clinical triaging, ensuring appropriate and timely care is delivered to residents based on their needs.
  • Set targets for the coordination of clinical care, working with the nursing team to achieve excellence in care delivery.
  • Ensure that scheduled reviews of residents are coordinated and completed on time to optimize their care plans.
  • Manage Clinical Management Assessments (CMA's) and utilize them to improve the quality of care provided.
  • Ensure that nurses are conducting specialist rounds regularly and assist in covering rounds during unplanned absences.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with partnering homes, addressing process improvements, and providing supportive feedback for continuous enhancement.
  • Monitor the education and training progress of new staff post-induction to ensure they are equipped to provide high-quality care.
  • Provide clinical guidance and procedural support to the nursing team to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Regularly assess the ongoing performance of nurses and conduct performance reviews for nursing staff in designated regions.
  • Collaborate with the Admin team in nursing home allocations to ensure efficient and effective care coordination.
  • Work closely with the Business Development Manager and Nursing Regional Managers to drive growth and expansion of our services in the regions.
  • Engage in partner and patient acquisition strategies to expand our network and provide access to exceptional aged care.

About you – your skills and experience:

  • Completed Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent.
  • Experience in the following areas - Aged Care, general practice, Day surgery. Experience working in a DON role previously would be highly regarded.
  • Experience leading teams with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse nursing team (remote workforce management highly desired).
  • You will require a valid Working with Children’s check or equivalent for the relevant state or territory, a Police check, and professional indemnity insurance.
  • Tech savvy with proficient use of Microsoft 365.
  • Strong knowledge of aged care facility management.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and expertise in aged care practices and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills to effectively coordinate care and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to address challenges and implement process improvements to enhance the quality of care.
