About the role
The Associate Director (or Director), Property Portfolio Management, Property Services Group (PSG) is responsible for driving the performance of RMIT’s Property Portfolio and delivering great experiences for students and staff.
This role is reporting to the Executive Director, Property Services and assisting in driving a culture of high quality, accuracy, consistency and completeness.
As a member of the PSG Senior Leadership Team, this position is responsible for the following functional areas to drive transformation, innovation, change and lead the teams to achieve results: Quality (ISO accreditation), Risk, Health, Safety, Environment &, Hazardous Materials, Sustainability, Business Intelligence & Analytics and PSG Communication and Engagement planning in consultation with Central Communications.
This position requires a high level of strategic thinking, strong communication, collaboration and negotiation skills to leverage networks and influence outcomes, and aptitude in financial and risk management.
To be successful in this position, you’ll have
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and implement strategic plans to drive the performance of a Property Portfolio for a major landlord or best value for an occupier.
- Experience in and comprehensive knowledge of Property Portfolio Management risk management principles, including analysis, evaluation techniques, benchmarking, strategic planning, project proposal evaluation and business case preparation.
- Experience with and comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements in the built environment including property/facility management including relevant operating Standards and occupational, health & safety, security and environmental legislation.
- Experience leading high performing teams of commercial / retail property managers, corporate real estate managers, occupier services managers.
- Experience in strategic planning and the formulation of policies, procedures and systems relevant to the provision of effective corporate and client services.
- Experience in running successful leasing campaigns and the structuring and negotiation of complex transactions.
- Customer service focused and dedicated to high standards of estate presentation and functionality.
- Strong commercial acumen.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and nurture internal and external relationships, strategic alliances with relevant professional and government bodies.
- Advanced financial skills.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Advanced knowledge of property valuation (e.g. rent assessment).
- Advanced program management skills.
- Advanced presentation and communication skills.
About the Portfolio
Property Services is located in the Operations Portfolio which is the services nucleus of RMIT and the focus for the development of the finance, people, infrastructure and systems that provide administrative capacity to the University.
Property Services has approximately 120 staff and has the responsibility to operate, maintain and enhance the buildings owned and leased by RMIT University, oversee construction projects and ensure the provision of facilities and asset management services. The Group owns $2.9b of property with an operating budget in excess of $80m and prospective capital projects of over $130M per annum for the next few years in Melbourne and Vietnam. RMIT's built environment involves approximately 110 buildings in Melbourne across all of RMIT's campuses and sites.
