Ashwood Support Services is a leading provider of Disability Supports for people living with mental illness, autism and those with multiple diagnosis. We are currently looking for suitable Support Workers with experience in these areas of disability to work with NDIS participants in Canberra and Yass.
We provide day to day supports to help people live their best lives, which can mean helping out with daily tasks such as grocery's or going to appointments, to more exciting things such as taking someone to the football or to see a movie. No two days are ever the same.
Currently, we have multiple NDIS participants requiring support in Canberra and Queanbeyan. . All of our participants have a psychosocial disability (a catch all term for mental health issues, ASD, intellectual disabilties etc), and so experience in this field, either in an employment or informal setting, is highly desired.
There is also the opportunity for the successful applicant or applicants to work with additional participants to the three mentioned above if they wish.
To be a successful Support Worker formal qualifications are not always necessary, and life experience is very highly regarded. Those who have experienced a mental health condition or live with a cognitive disability, or those who have worked with or cared for those who do either in a professional or informal capacity, make outstanding Support Workers and are very strongly encouraged to apply.
Having said that, there are some minimum requirements to be able to fulfil the job adequately, these are;
A current drivers licence
A current First Aid/ CPR certificate
A working with vulnerable people card
A current (within the last 6 months) Police Check
Meet the ACT government requirements for COVID vaccination to be able to work in the Disability Support sector

Ashwood Support Services recognises we all have lives outside of work, and a strong work life balance is vital for all of our staff.
