We support people in their own homes, group activities, EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT and into the community, providing them with the opportunity to live their best lives and to fulfil their goals and dreams. You will provide home based support such as meal management, domestic assistance, community access, EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT and personal care, where required, and transport the people we support into the community for appointments and activities.
- Engage with the person to develop daily routines and activity schedules,
aligned with their NDIS goals, which enhance their access to community and level of independence. - Complete daily support tasks, as required by the service and the person, to ensure a safe environment, including but not limited to cleaning and personal care.
- Participate in the development and implementation of individual support plans, ensuring that outcomes enhance the abilities, skills, and opportunities for people with disability.
Employment Support Coach
These supports and employment programs assist school leavers to develop employability skills required to find and maintain employment in mainstream work. Participants can work at their own pace within practical environments which are supportive, capacity building and fun.
These roles focus on supporting participants to build employment skills and readiness including customer service, time management, money handling, public transport training (independent travel), effective communication, and learning how to take instruction at work.
This specific role will be to deliver our Employment Support to help our participants - young people with a disability - to prepare, look for, gain, and maintain employment. You will provide meaningful, individualised capacity building activities so that our participants can achieve their own employment goals.
An ability to use initiative, identify focus learning areas, and use creative thinking to implement various strategies and skills to overcome these barriers is required.
To become a Disability Support Worker and Employment support Employment Support Coach
at Samy Care, you must:
- Be available to work every 2nd weekend, weekdays, morning, day and evening shifts and sleep overs.
- Have a passion caring approach working in disability services and always keen to learn new skills
- Excellent administration skills
- Experience working with employers and businesses to negotiate job opportunities for people
- Experience supporting people with a disability in an open or supported employment environment
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Be physically fit
- Be computer literate.
- Have the ability to self-supervise and to remain calm and composed at times of crisis
- Be punctual, reliable, honest and flexible
- Be able to provide direct quality support to clients in line with their specific support needs, including administering medication and manual handling
Communication and Teamwork
- Have ability to establish great working relationships with a wide range of people, stakeholders and Organisations.
- Demonstrated sound written and oral communication skills to communicate with staff at all levels of the organisation and its participants.
- Demonstrated sound organisational skills including an ability to see tasks through to completion.
You must have the following to be considered:
- Minimum Cert III in Disability or above or equivalent experience
- Must have your own a fully comprehensive insured and reliable vehicle
- Mobile phone
- NDIS Orientation Module
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- First Aid/CPR certificates (current)
- Australian driver’s license/Valid International Driver's licence
- Working With Vulnerable People Card/Working with Children Check
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or hold a valid medical exemption certificate
- Empathetic and proactive with a genuine interest to work in this field
- Must have the right to live and work in Australia.
