What will a typical day as a Disability Support Worker at Jigsaw Blue look like?
As a Disability Support Worker, your role is to empower individuals by providing the support they need to lead independent and fulfilling lives.
Here are the main points of a typical day in your role:
- Support individuals to live independently and safely, assisting them with daily tasks based on their unique needs including personal care support.
- Help individuals make informed choices and encourage their active participation in decision-making.
- Addressing behaviours of concern through the implementation of their support plans
- Create a sense of belonging and community engagement by facilitating participation in social activities, attending school/day program, and organising outings.
- Collaborate with a dedicated and caring team to ensure comprehensive support for individuals.
- Assist with household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and maintaining a comfortable living environment.
- Implementing participants Individualised Support Plans

To join the team, you will need:
- Crisis management skills through lived work experience.
- To provide support a person-centred manner.
- To embrace the role with current CPR and First Aid qualifications, ready to be a guardian of safety.
- Previous experience in the Disability sector (highly desirable)
- Experience, dedication, and supportiveness to create transformative impacts every step of the way.
- To uphold a high level of integrity and professionalism, setting the stage for remarkable achievements.
- To be deemed physically fit for the role as some clients may be physically demanding due to the nature of their disabilities.
- Intermediate oral and written communication skills
- A professional work approach (Trustworthy, reliable, punctual)
- The ability to show respect for the clients.
- The ability to work as a part of a team.
- The ability to work independently.
- The ability to prioritise tasks.
- Conflict resolution skills
Requirements:
- A minimum qualification in Disability (Certificate 3 in Individual Support or Certificate 4 in Disability) or ongoing studies.
- Knowledge of the child safe standards (ensuring the well-being of all)
- An Australian Driver's License and reliable car. (Learners is not permitted)
- Current CPR and First Aid qualifications, ready to be a guardian of safety.
- NDIS ‘Quality Safety and You’ certificate
- Current Working With Children's Check
- Police Check
- NDIS Workers Screening Check
- Be cleared on the Carers Register
