Disabled Care Worker

- Assist in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of strategies in synergy of the NDIS guidelines and Child Safety guidelines.
- Provide advice and support to stakeholder groups, family, and community relating to participants and with implementing resourcing strategies to improve outcomes of participant’s goals.
- Support and assist clients with home care, personal support, domestic assistance, washing, meal preparation, cleaning, social support, respite and provide emotional support and companionship.
- Work with participants to access services and the community.
- Assist participants to have the opportunity to develop and maintain skills, capacities and lifestyles that are valued in the community.
- Complete detailed reports, briefings, correspondence, and responses to queries related to the participant's support services and resourcing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, working with other services on shared priorities to deliver integrated services.
- Report any WH&S concerns or incidents to the Home Leader.
- Actively contribute to a team environment through open communication, participation in regular staff meetings, planning processes, and policy review. Provide back up and support to other staff, as necessary.
- Be available to work flexible hours across a fortnightly rotation roster.
- Two sleepovers a week as a minimum.
- Be actively involved in the positive promotion and marketing of all values and mission statement.
- Contribute to the direction of our program which operate within the communities and within the 24/7 out of home care.
- Able to engage and interact effectively with people with disability to deliver quality support services and achieve positive outcomes for clients.
- Sound communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to write case notes and reports.
- Ability to effectively manage time and to organise self.
- Sound interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiation skills; and the ability to identify lateral solutions to problems.
- Computer literacy with experience using Office365.
- An understanding of the NDIS, working within the NDIS Operational Guidelines, NDIS programs and complying with the standards.
- Understanding of the Child Safety policies and procedures or willingness to learn and comply with the standards.
- Knowledge of the National Mental Health Strategy, the National Standards for Mental Health Services, the National Practice Standards for the Mental Health Workforce and other related legislation is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated understanding of engaging and supporting people with disabilities, including mental health issues.

- Able to maintain reasonable levels of energy and to be efficiently productive over extended periods when necessary.

- Engage in cultural and transitional planning with young people to ensure their cultural needs / connections are met and transitional plans are appropriate.
- Deliver services in line with the agreed care plan, Child Safety and NDIS budget
- Participate in a culture of continual quality improvement and actively participate in reflection and learning.

- First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Trauma and attachment.
- NDIS worker orientation module.
- Current Queensland driver’s License.
- QLD Registered vehicle with comprehensive insurance, Commercial use of vehicle to be noted on the Certificate of Currency.
- Current Blue Card and NDIS worker screening.
- Confidence to satisfy the relevant probity and legislation checks.
- Experience in engaging and supporting people with disabilities is desirable.
- Experience in achieving outcomes with minimal supervision and direction.
- Experience in case notes and report writing.
- High Level of understanding within the Indigenous culture and the families.
