Disaster Management Officer

• Salary: $97,022 to $102,626 – ASO6 – Full Time / Term Contract up to 9 Months

Overview:

The Disaster Management Branch (DMB) provides strategic leadership and direction for SA Health’s preparedness for and response to major incidents, emergencies and disasters ensuring the department fulfils its role in these events in the state, nationally or internationally. The DMB is responsible for the development and implementation of the SA Health Disaster Management Policy Directive and facilitates the national and state emergency management agenda within SA Health including the development of disaster plans and the implementation of a range of education, training and exercise programs.

The Disaster Management Officer is accountable to the Director for:

• Leading, developing and coordinating training education and exercise programs across the Disaster Management portfolio
• Supporting the development and implementation of SA Health’s Business Continuity Management (BCM) Program
• Supporting the development and implementation of SA Health’s Disaster Management program
• Developing and maintaining a robust ‘fit for purpose’ Training and Exercising framework for SA Health.
• Participating in emergency response and coordination
• Developing and implementing incident response systems, processes and doctrine that relate to DHWs obligation to fulfill incident management under State and Health arrangements.
• Providing expert advice on Disaster Management to SA Health and other government and non-government clients and stakeholders and contributing to the development and exchange of information relevant to the Disaster Management sector.

Criminal History Screening Requirement

• A National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving ‘Unsupervised Contact with Vulnerable Groups’ is required for this position (E.g. aged care employment or work involving vulnerable clients)

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact)

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

Special Conditions

• Intrastate/interstate travel may be required.
• Must be ready and willing to assist in managing disease outbreaks within the community which may include travel within South Australia.
• Meet immunisation requirements as outlined by the Immunisation for Health Care Workers in South Australia Policy Directive.
• The incumbent will be required to participate in an after-hours on-call roster, as the Emergency Management Duty Officer, including some out-of-hours work, and may be required to participate in emergency operations as a member of the State level incident management team (IMT).
