The Role- Donor Communications Specialist
Reporting into the Deputy Director of Development, the Donor Communications Specialist will support the planning, drafting and production of written Donor Communications across the Development team. This includes proposals for major and principal gifts, reports on impact, content for appeals and campaigns, and other forms of donor communication and stewardship that support the strategic objectives of Chris O’Brien Lifehouse.
While not centred on front-facing fundraising, this role involves a dynamic mix of impactful creative writing, translating scientific content into donor-friendly formats and collaborating with internal stakeholders. The Donor Communications Specialist will their lend expertise across the development team to ensure consistency and quality in Donor Communications.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Major Gift team to develop high-quality written content, including cases for support, proposals, reports and letters.
- Support the Annual Giving and Community Fundraising portfolio across mass communication pieces, including input for appeals, newsletters, campaigns and donor journeys.
- Work collaboratively across the Development team by sharing your skills and knowledge to upskill content writers and to continually improve their standards of Donor Communications
- Ensure consistent messaging across all communication and graphics, that will identify new ways to connect donors to the impact of their support.
- Translate medical information and advancements into language suitable for donor letters, proposals, newsletters and impact reports.
- Integrate reactive tasks with strategic proactive leadership, by developing content toolboxes that address the team’s regular writing requirements.
- Outstanding written and verbal communications
- Ability to build meaningful relationships with internal stakeholders that promote collaboration and effective teamwork
- Demonstrated success in a Donor Communications, copywriting or a communications role within a fundraising, academic or government setting
- High attention to detail and a creative eye
- Ability to work autonomously, project management skills and ability to be proactive in your approach to your role
