UGL now have a vacancy for a Draftsperson, reporting to the Engineering Manager and based in our facility at Bennett’s Green, Newcastle. This role is responsible for the provision of drafting services to our Industrial and Resources Line of Business.
The Bennett’s Green facility specialises in the design and manufacture of high-quality pressure vessels and heat exchangers and site-based capital projects. The Draftsperson would be integrated into this specialised team and play a key role in delivery of such projects.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Originate and revise engineering documentation including 3D models, 2D drawings, material and weld lists and related project documentation.
- Participate in designs for tender and prepare drafting estimates.
- Liaise with Design and Project Engineers, Workshop and Welding Supervisors.
- Apply procedures for control of incoming and outgoing documentation.
- Monitor hours spent on projects versus estimates.
- Suggest improvements to the drafting and quality systems.
- Comply with UGL policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Strictly adhere to both UGL and client’s safety and environmental systems and standards.
About You:
- Tertiary qualifications in a trade or drafting related field.
- A Mechanical or Structural Engineering Diploma would be desirable.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of and exposure to Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Pressure Piping, Boiler Components and Structures would be advantageous.
- High attention to detail with high level of accuracy and efficiency.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work both independently and in a small team environment, prioritise tasks and learn quickly.
- The desire and drive to see projects come to fruition correctly and on time.
