The Opportunity:
Join QMM as our new Draftsperson - Mechanical Design, where your creative prowess and innovative mindset will be the driving force behind crafting distinctive and functional engineering solutions. In this role, you'll cater to our clientele primarily situated in the heavy industrial sectors, providing them with cutting-edge designs tailored to their unique needs. Additionally, you'll play a crucial role within our internal workshop, contributing your skills to drive development and innovation initiatives. Tasks and responsibilities may include:
- Take charge of creating drawings that adhere to design codes and standards.
- Collaborate closely with project managers to accurately capture all necessary information in drawings.
- Assist the estimate team by providing support in the preparation of drawings.
- Efficiently manage and control drawing records.
- Organize, archive, and retrieve all drawings for both record-keeping and maintenance purposes.
- Execute all work duties with a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency.
- Ensure accountability by guaranteeing that the company's drawings meet rigorous standards for quality, safety, cost-effectiveness, adherence to schedules, and constructability.
- Be proficient in 3D Modelling & 2D drafting using Inventor.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role.
- Able to produce workshop drawings.
- Have heavy fabrication experience.
- Have significant experience designing materials handling equipment – bins, hoppers, conveyors, platforms, stairs, guarding and structural steelwork.
- Be able to work with initiative and with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with Australian Standards.
- Have organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Able to work and collaborate with the wider QMM team – estimators, engineers, workshop personnel.
- A fabrication trade certificate will be well regarded.
