Position objectives
The Economic Development Coordinator will be responsible for:
- Effective management and coordination of the staff and programs of the Economic Development team.
- Leading the Economic Development team and raise the profile of the Mildura Region through strategic management of this team, its staff and its programs.
- Providing professional advice to the Manager Economic Development and Tourism and Council on relevant Economic Development projects.
- Develop networks and liaise with representatives from Federal, State and Local Government, business chambers, Mildura Airport and Mildura City Heart to ensure a cohesive approach to Economic Development projects.
- Plan and lead projects and initiatives that facilitate and promote growth in new and existing industries and businesses.
- To investigate opportunities which can lead to creating employment outcomes.
- To work with local, state and regional development bodies as well as industry, investment and service providers, educational and employment providers to achieve positive economic, social and environmental outcomes.
- Develop systems which aid in the provision, collection and dissemination of economic data and information.
- Lead a team which develops opportunities to promote the Mildura region to investors, and manage Council events and promotions, if required
Qualifications and experience
Ideally the successful applicant will have the following:
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as Economic Development, Business Management, Economics, Commerce, Business Management or Project Management and demonstrated experience in managing a diverse range of projects.
- Significant relevant experience and a track record of demonstrated achievement in a similar role.
- Experience in working within a quality improvement framework.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in community engagement to develop partnerships and effective relationships with relevant stakeholders.
- Current Drivers Licence.
Salary and conditions
The position is classified within Band 8 of Council’s current Enterprise Agreement ranging from $118,548 to $132,844 per annum plus statutory superannuation.
