The Role:
The Educator component of the role is responsible for the delivery of high-quality clinical care training to St Mary’s Villa with a focus on building a trustable relationship with employees and residents. Ensuring that residents are partners in care, and receive care and services according to their needs.
The Quality Coordinator component of the role is responsible for monitoring and submitting quality management systems and processes to ensure continuous improvement and regulatory compliance within St Mary’s Villa. The Educator/Quality Coordinator works with the Leadership Team of St Mary’s Villa to ensure the team is achieving the purpose and priorities of the organisation including compliance with the Aged Care Quality and Safety Standards.
The Requirements:
- Current full registration with AHPRA
- 3 years experience in residential aged care in a leadership role
- Working experience in clinical education
- Excellent relationship-building skills
- Contemporary leadership capability
- In-depth understanding of evidence-based practice and the aged care regulatory environment
- Demonstrated experience in managing quality and conducting audits within an aged care or health care environment with proven results in ensuring organisation compliance and risk management
- High level of communication skills including report writing and experience in writing procedures
- Advanced working knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations in the aged care/healthcare environment
- High level of analytical skills in quality indicator data
- Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Suite – Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
- Mon- Fri availability
- Some flexibility is required to meet the needs of the facility
As an Educator you will:
- Work with the clinical and care teams to ensure that each resident receives safe and effective personal care, clinical care, or both personal care and clinical care
- Proactively monitor high-prevalence and high-risk care areas
- Respond to Clinical incidents appropriately
- Oversee the care needs of residents (particularly clinical care, support, and advice)
- Implement standard and transmission-based precautions to prevent and control infection
- Lead Outbreak Management Processes
- In consultation with the leadership team plan for and manage all resource and equipment needs for the provision of care and services
- Actively monitor workforce model and needs in line with resident acuity and care needs
- Streamline organisational structures and processes to facilitate service improvement
- Take lead responsibility in clinical care quality management processes including audits, clinical indicators, and feedback
- Proactively encourage feedback from all key stakeholders on care and service delivery
- Advocate open disclosure processes and support the team to utilise the process
- Ensure incidents that fall under mandatory reporting guidelines are reported as per requirements
- Support changes to and updates for the Aged Care Standards
- Work with the team in implementing the policy and procedure guidelines
- Participate in all Quality Management and Continuous Improvement activities
