Mentone Grammar is a dynamic ELC through to Year 12 co-educational School, with a proud history dating back to the 1920s. Our School is structured into six campuses, housed in one location in the Bayside suburb of Mentone.

The school is an open-entry school, drawing students from local Bayside and surrounding suburbs. The school became co-educational in 2006 and adopted a unique Together-Apart-Together model of education, which has resulted in continual growth. ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Director of Early Learning Centre (ELC), the ELC Co-educator is responsible for supporting and implementing the curriculum consistent with the philosophy, policy and practice prescribed by the School.
This is an ongoing, part-time role on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday lunch cover 11.30am - 2.30pm.
This position works closely with kindergarten classroom teachers to implement the ELC program for children aged 3 to 5 years old.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Assisting and supporting the teacher with the implementation of the educational programs, as set out by the classroom teachers
- Acting in a supervisory role with groups of children during their time in the class and outdoor program periods
- To show initiative in undertaking this role whilst also following directions from the teaching staff member
- Engaging the children in the activities, working towards learning outcomes
- Supporting the children’s positive engagement with the learning environments
- Nurturing the children
- Being a positive role model
- Demonstrating initiative throughout the daily routine to support the classroom programs and the broader objectives of the school
ABOUT YOU
- Must hold a current Employee Working with Children Clearance (WWCC)
- Diploma in Early Childhood Development and/or Certificate III in Early Childhood Studies
- Hold current and up to date First Aid, CPR, Asthma, Anaphylaxis qualifications and Mandatory Reporting

- Ensure familiarity and compliance with the School’s Child Safe Policy, Code of Conduct and Procedures.
Child Safe Standards
Mentone Grammar has a zero-tolerance policy for child abuse and is committed to promoting child safety, children’s wellbeing and protecting children from abuse. Ministerial Order 870 requires Mentone Grammar to implement child safety standards and to accommodate and take the needs of all children (including but not limited to, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, children with disabilities, and children who are vulnerable) into account when creating a child safe environment.
All staff are responsible for understanding and applying Mentone Grammar’s Child Safety Policy and Procedure and Code of Conduct and being responsible in reporting any concerns. Where students are under staff care, there is an obligation to take all practical steps to protect students where a risk to student’s safety has been identified.
