What you'll be doing

This position is both to provide and to supervise the provision of clinical services by the staff of the Clinical Neurophysiology Unit. This is a temporary appointment with the possibility of extension. Key responsibilities include:
- Performance of EEG and Evoked potentials on a regular basis, and to do technical reports.
- To manage the day to day running of the department together with the other Senior Technical Officer and to instruct Trainees.
- To play an active role in the development of the department as a service, training and academic laboratory.
- To assist the Head of Department in the introduction of new techniques and Neurophysologic tests as required.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.
A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.
In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.
Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

- The appointee must be the holder of a suitable certificate or course of training as, the opinion of the employer, is appropriate.
- Demonstrated ability to record high quality electrophysiological investigations in a clinical environment with varying levels of supervision, in a manner safe to themselves and their patients.
- Proficiency in performing routine and specialised electroencephalography (EEG); Proficiency in performing evoked potentials; brainstem auditory, somatosensory and visual. Working knowledge of Nerve Conduction Tests
- Demonstrated high level skills in communications with staff, referring doctors and patients and their relatives.
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently, as conditions required.
- Demonstrated willingness to undertake in-service or other training and acquire new skills relevant to the position.
- Demonstrated willingness to organise and oversee the training of other technicians within the Unit.
- Demonstrated ability to work with computer-based equipment and common software packages.
