This position requires an individual who has employee relations experience, deep subject matter knowledge, and strong communication and interpersonal skills that enables them to work successfully and independently on a wide range of employee relations issues and projects.
The position will support Amazon.com.au operations within Australia.
The central objective of Amazon's global operations employee relations team is to ensure our organisation's treatment of employees is fair, respectful, and consistent with our framework of core business values and objectives. To support that objective, this position's responsibilities fall into proactive and reactive categories.
The individual will work as a subject matter expert and project manager on proactive programs that improve local employee relations.
This role will involve 50-60% travel.
Key job responsibilities
The individual will work proactively to:
- Advocate for the best interests of associates and assist in building a direct and sincere long-term relationship with associates
- Partner and influence Site Leaders when necessary to ensure a positive associate experience
- Partner with Site Leaders and HR teams to create and sustain positive employee relations programs and best practices tailored to business needs
- Adapting Global tools and programs to fit the Australian environment
- Conduct and collaborate on positive employee relations trainings and communications
- Design, collect, and analyse multiple levels of associate feedback
- Work with other stakeholders to implement systems and processes for identifying potential issues before they become problems
- Partner to engage in continuous improvement in communication tools and practices
- Analyse, diagnose, design, and revise people programs, policies, and practices to sustain positive employee relations
- Supporting Operations and HR with Case Management Escalations
- Assist large scale, country-wide projects that improve the associate experience
Successful candidates will have:
- At least three years direct experience in employee relations, employment engagement, or labor/employment law
- Experience in warehouse, logistics and/or transportation facilities highly desirable; experience in blue collar work environments or high profile employers a significant plus
- A bachelor's degree in law, a business discipline, or human resources
- Knowledge and understanding of proactive direct employee engagement concepts and philosophies
- An understanding of the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards and other State and Federal laws
- Experience in designing and delivering successful training programs
- Technically proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint
- Ability to successfully manage a dynamic and complex network of internal stakeholders
- Team player with strong written and oral communication skills; excellent public speaker
- Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills, enabling individual to establish partnerships working with senior leaders and across organisational lines
