Our coal is shipped to key markets in Asia and Europe to be used in the steel making process. The mine is located in the Bowen Basin, approximately 40km Northeast of Emerald in Central QLD. Our team's capability covers the entire mining process, from development to extraction and processing, environmental management and sustainable rehabilitation. We have an approved life of mine until 2033 and reserves to 2046 with the potential to increase further.

We are currently seeking a suitably qualified Engineer Mine Planning to join the Kestrel Coal Resources Team on a Monday to Friday or 9-day fortnight roster. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you will be responsible for providing support to the Technical Services team in a way that supports the ongoing operations and facilitate laying the groundwork for important operations and planning improvements.

In this role, you will support Kestrel by:
- Assisting the Senior Mining Engineer in the development and regular update of the underground mine plan that safely and efficiently maximise coal recovery from the mine and assist with the production of mine design and forecasts that improve the mine's short term operational performance.
- Assisting the Senior Mining Engineer to ensure the mine plan is accurate and is optimised to serve the business' requirements.
- Establishing and maintaining the short term mine schedule whilst analysing and interpreting relevant data.
- Providing technical advice in relation to mine design critical risks.
- Gaining and maintaining knowledge of best practice within Mine Planning and share interesting and useful information across the business, as appropriate.
- Actively investigate enhancements to standards, procedures and processes in Mine Planning that achieves improvements in safety, reliability, performance, job satisfaction and productivity.
- Providing advice and support across the business relevant to your professional area to initiate and drive productivity improvements.
- Manage Contractors under your supervision to ensure compliance with KCR system and ensure they add value to our core business.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Routing participating in departmental audits, observations, and safety inspections to demonstrate commitment to monitoring and reviewing processes.
- Providing for appropriate notification, investigation, reporting, and recording of accidents and incidents as required by site policy and legislation and apply timely remedial actions.
About you:
- A bachelor's degree in Mining/ survey/ Geoscience related technical discipline.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and CAD.
- Knowledge of underground coal mining methods and systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to perform in time pressure situations and meet identified deadlines.
