The Role
We are offering a fantastic opportunity for a Mining Planning Engineer to work in an iconic, large, and complex production operation during the last years of its life. Not only is this a rare opportunity, it will mean your role will be diverse and you will need to be flexible helping others and having others help you as the team works closely together to deliver in a changing environment.
You will be integral in the closure of one of the worlds iconic mining operations, and working closely with the Senior and Superintendent, assisting, learning from and advising on once in a lifetime decision.

The successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Assisting the Senior Mine Planning Engineer and the Superintendent in updating Management Plans, Procedures, Guidelines, Trigger Action Response Plans (TARPS), Standard Work Instructions (SWI) with the latest systems, methods and processes used.
- Provide training and mentoring to peers, new starters, cadets, and graduates.
- Ensure underground inspections are carried out for the planned design work.
- Track activity progress and provide feedback to schedulers and other disciplines on changes and delays to the mining plan.
- Completion of development designs, backfill designs, stope notes and other short-term work required for operations to execute the production plan.
- Drive discrete and targeted short term projects in specific areas of the mine.
- Accountable for design and delivery of the mid-term mine plan
- Identify and articulate business risks to the scheduling team to allow for effective scheduling.
- Perform reconciliation on executed mine plans to track design and operational performance for continuous improvement purposes.
- Adapt and assist your colleagues in all facets of mining engineering.
We anticipate the person we offer will:
- Be qualified in Mining Engineering or similar.
- Have several years underground hard rock mining experience.
- Experience in Mine Design with competency in using relevant mining software packages (we utilise Deswik).
- Work well in a team environment and have good communication skills.
- Take pride in your work with a high degree of accuracy and good time management skills.
