About the Role
Serco Defence is a certified contractor to the Navy providing asset management services in support of maritime assets across Service Pack 1 of the Defence Maritime Support Services (DMSS) Contract.
The Engineering Support Officer is responsible to the Deputy National Engineering Manager, DMSS for the conduct and delivery of effective planned maintenance and supporting maintenance plans for a range of marine assets. The role monitors all maintenance teams and reports on achievement of Key Performance Indices (KPIs) required under the contract. The Engineering Support Officer is also responsible for supporting repair management of assets ensuring the quality of supplies and services via preparing documents for commonwealth approval.
As a member of the National Support Office (NSO), you will play a part in the implementation of engineering management policy, procedures, and systems interfacing these with other Serco Defence disciplines, including the reporting on audits and the review of their status and effectiveness across the Defence Maritime Support Services (DMSS).
This is a technical and practical position in which coordinates all activities to support internal and external requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
- Relevant Trade or Maritime qualification in a maritime engineering discipline
- Current Drivers Licence (National Code Class C)
- Experience in asset design, repair, and maintenance in an operational environment ideally in the maritime field.
- Be familiar with the requirements for Domestic Commercial Vessels including the National Standard for Commercial vessels and of Class
- Prior exposure to and experience including the direct provision of service
- Experience in Australian Commercial vessel operation and rules associated with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) or a certifying Classification Society
- Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum of Defence Security Clearance – Negative Vetting 1 (NV1)
