Enrolled Nurse - Mental Health
The Maitland Hospital | Biripi Country
As an Enrolled Nurse on our inpatient team you will provide care to consumers who are currently having a hospital admission stay. For our consumers this can sometimes be a very frightening and worrying time, so it is important that our nurses are compassionate and caring.
You will work as part of a team, collaborating and learning from your nursing, allied and medical team colleagues. You will gain excellent experience in the caring for consumers with serious and acute Mental Health conditions. As our consumers often can have many physical complexities you will also still utilise your general nursing skills.
Rewarding aspects of this position are being involved in a very vulnerable time for our consumers and being able to see people improve and work toward their recovery goals.
Additionally, the inpatient unit is currently working toward the implementation of the SafeWards program, a UK initiative that looks to enhance safety in Mental Health units. SafeWards is a framework of care that is written by nurses, for nurses so this is a very exciting time to be coming on board at the Maitland MHIPU.
Where you'll be working
The Maitland Mental Health Unit is located at the New Maitland Hospital at Metford. The unit is a modern and contemporary space where inpatient care is provided for patients who are receiving either voluntary or involuntary care for acute Mental Health conditions.
The New Maitland Hospital is a lovely new building, with amazing architectural design points and artworks that represent the local area.
The team at the Maitland MHIPU consists of nursing, allied health and medical health professionals. Our team is built by senior clinicians who hold a wealth of experience and knowledge. For the junior practitioner, joining our team is an exciting prospect as there are fantastic mentoring and learning opportunities.
Our management team is led by an experienced Nurse Manager who holds a keen interest in nursing workforce education and development, specifically in the very exciting field of Mental Health nursing!
We are part of the Hunter New England Local Health District Mental Health Service which is known for it's contemporary practice and strong focus on quality improvement.
Your Skills
Our team is very picky, so only a very specific type of candidate could be successful!
Are you compassionate and kind with a strong focus on clinical care? Are you a good team player? Do you love working with colleagues who are passionate and hold a great deal of knowledge? Are you a nurse who enjoys participating in leading change? Also, do you have a fantastic sense of humour?
If this is you, please apply! We are looking for the perfect fit for our team and we want to talk to you!
