Overview
The Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network Inc. (BHFLHN) Transition to Professional Practice Program (TPPP) Enrolled Nurse (EN) program aims to support the newly qualified ENs to consolidate and develop skills and knowledge reflected in high quality nursing practice.
The transition program is a Six-month evidence-based, developed by rural nurses and midwives and informed by the practical experience of our rural and regional workforce. Participants in the TPPP can expect a program that offers support and opportunities in developing nursing and midwifery practice of the highest quality. The program operates across the region, and all participants are offered similar opportunities.
This program is dedicated to:
- Providing support to newly graduated transitioning nurses and midwives across BHFLHN.
- Recognising the unique nature of working regionally and rurally.
- Focusing on the skill development relevant to these areas of nursing and midwifery.
- Using an evidence-based curriculum to further develop a strong and high-quality nursing and midwifery workforce.
- Offering unique opportunities for TPPPs specific to the BHFLHN.
The Enrolled Nurse supports the Registered Nurse/Midwife in the provision of person-centred care consistent with regulatory and statutory requirements. Practice at this level is from novice to proficient Enrolled Nurse practice. Employees at this level work under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse/Midwife, however at all times the Enrolled Nurse retains responsibility for his/her actions and remains accountable in providing nursing/midwifery care.
Enrolled or eligible for enrolment as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
