Join our team as an Environmental Education Support Officerand embark on a journey to promote environmental awareness, sustainability and climate action and education at the City of Melville’s Environmental Education Centres!
As a valued member of our team, you will provide crucial support to our education programs, ensuring excellence in customer service and facility management. Your role will involve not only facilitating engaging Environmental Education activities such as nature play and community workshops, but also advocating for environmental sustainability through practical actions aligned with Council’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy.
With a focus on visitor engagement and public outreach, you will play a vital part in enhancing the knowledge, skills, and values of our customers.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Essential - Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Essential - Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Essential - Valid C Class License
- Desirable - Tertiary qualifications in education, conservation, sustainability, science, ecology, or related fields.
- Previous experience in operational activities and delivering high-quality customer service within a dynamic centre or similar professional environment.
- Interest or experience in education, conservation, sustainability, science, ecology, or related fields.
- Demonstrated flexibility, positivity, and collaborative attitude towards team support, customer needs, and organisational goals.
- Experience and proficiency in working with children, community members, and volunteers.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with diverse customers and handle complex inquiries.
- Experience in designing and implementing environmental programs.
- Proficiency in leading groups in outdoor settings, including knowledge of native flora, fauna, and ecosystems.
- Skills or experience using IT systems, including booking systems, social media platforms, and Microsoft Suite.
