About the role
We are currently seeking an Environmental Superintendent - Mine/ Port/ Rail to join our team. Reporting to the Manager Environment and Approvals, you and your team's primary responsibilities will be to ensure compliance to Roy Hill's statutory Environmental obligations. You will liaise closely with stakeholders across the business to ensure that their environmental roles and responsibilities are known and are being carried out to the best of their abilities.
This position is working on a FIFO 4/3, 4/3, 8/6 roster from Perth to the Roy Hill Mine, Port and Rail.
Duties
- Provide input and support into the strategic direction of Roy Hill and provide timely advice to the business regarding relevant environmental legislation and permitting requirements
- Interpret legislation, government standards and agreements and provide informed commentary, improvement opportunities and risk management strategies
- Promote environmental awareness, leadership, and guidance on environmental matters to site-based personnel
- Provide required information to support the granting of all necessary environmental approvals
- Implement and manage the Environmental Management System and coordinate and execute environmental monitoring
- Provide direction to the environment team and contractors to ensure behaviours, actions and attitudes align with the company's core values
- Provide ongoing guidance, support, and relevant training opportunities for your team, supporting their professional development and performance
Skills and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or similar qualification in Environmental Management
- Substantial experience in a supervisory function of large teams within a relevant industry
- Mentoring and supervisory experience and a passion for building capability within a team
- Solid understanding of operational functions within a relevant industry
- Solid understanding of Western Australian environmental legislation and framework - in particular, EP Act, EPBC Act and Mining Act
- High level report writing skills
- Substantial experience in undertaking environmental audits, inspections, and investigations, with formal audit and investigation qualifications highly desirable
