About the opportunity

Working with the Community Events Coordinator, the role is responsible for the planning, logistics and delivery of City of Palmerston events. The Events Officer will also work closely with other Council departments to create engaging activities for the community:

  • Assist the Community Events Coordinator with planning and logistics of Council events.
  • Assist the Community Events Coordinator to develop and implement strategies to promote Council events and programs.
  • Deliver all aspects of event planning including site plans, risk assessments, run sheets, and vendor coordination.
  • Conduct post-event evaluation and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and licensing requirements for events.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with Community stakeholders.
  • Work alongside other Council departments to create and deliver engaging activities and events for community members.
  • Independently plan logistics and deliver events e.g., Citizenship Ceremonies, Flicnics, Live at the Lake
  • Assist Media with the promotion of Council events.
  • Maintain relevant databases for information, process invoices and other administrative tasks as required.

About You

  • Relevant vocational qualifications such as Event Management, Project Management, Event Management and/or experience in event or project management
  • Demonstrated strong organisational and event coordination skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required for events
  • Ability to solve problems by exercising and analysing the available options
  • Demonstrated experience in project management within time and budget constraints
  • Proven experience in working in collaborative partnerships with local, state and federal governments, non-government organisations, contractors and the community
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously within a team and autonomously
  • Demonstrated computer literacy skills (Microsoft Office suite)
